Course Description The main objective of the course is to provide an overview on the functioning of international law\n through the case-law of international courts and tribunals in order that the students will be able to\n understand and legally qualify events in world politics related to international law. Jurisdiction,\n procedures and classification of international judicial bodies are also examined. Emphasis will be put\n on the analysis of “leading cases“ decided by the ICJ, PCIJ, ICTY, ICC, ITLOS, ECJ, ECrtHR and\n other international judicial and quasi-judicial bodies. Not only shall a thorough analysis be made, but\n doing so students will deepen and broaden their knowledge in international law. From a\n methodological perspective, the course aims at providing for the methods of legal argumentation\n used by the courts and, more generally, legal thinking and argument-constructing. Enrobed with\n these competences, students are expected to be familiar with the working, methods and practice of\n the international fora and their “jungle” of case-law.
